Arnold-Chiari malformation type 1 is a condition where a part of the brain called the cerebellar tonsils is positioned too low and partially shifts into the spinal canal. This creates pressure on the cerebellum and spinal cord, which can disrupt their normal functions.
Typically, the brain and spinal cord are separated, each having its own area. But with type 1 Chiari malformation, the cerebellar tonsils "push out" of the skull into the spinal area. This happens because the back of the skull is slightly smaller than usual, causing the brain to "not fit" entirely inside.
Symptoms can vary and may include headaches, which often worsen with coughing or bending over, as well as coordination issues, ringing in the ears, dizziness, or tingling sensations in the hands. In some cases, the malformation may not cause any symptoms and is discovered accidentally during tests for other reasons.
The exact cause is unknown; it may be a congenital feature or result from trauma or other conditions.
Every donation you make is a step toward a life free from pain and fear. Living with Arnold-Chiari malformation and asthma means fighting for each breath and enduring intense headaches that worsen even with a simple cough. Everyday things like taking a walk or laughing have become enormous challenges for me. This surgery is my chance to break free from this pain—a chance for a new life.
Your support is not just help; it’s a real opportunity to restore my health and give me back the freedom to breathe, move, and smile. Even the smallest donation brings me closer to healing. Thank you for each step you take toward my dream of a normal life.
